Roberta Carson

Roberta Carson has distinguished herself in the performance of outstanding and dedicated service to the City of Winchester and Franklin County.

In September 1956, Roberta was working at the Winchester Hat Factory when a friend told her of a job opening at the Winchester Power System.  She was later interviewed in her home by Mr. J. E. Cope, Comptroller and Officer Manager of the Winchester Power Company.  Roberta was offered and accepted the job as assistant cashier and started work on September 17, 1957, making seventy-five cents an hour.

Through her efficiency, hard work, and interaction with employers, co-workers and customers, Roberta was promoted to accounting clerk in 1961 and became secretary to the Utilities Board in 1973.  Roberta was promoted to Comptroller and Office Manager in 1980 and worked with five different managers.

Roberta retired October 2004 after forty-eight years of continuous service with Winchester Utilities.  She remained as a consultant with Winchester Utilities until 2010.

Roberta has been a dedicated employee, devoted mother and wife and friend to our community.  She is a great asset to Winchester and Franklin County.  Roberta continues to volunteer with the City of Winchester with the Beautification Committee maintaining flower beds in the Winchester City Park.

Roberta is a lifetime member of Winchester Church of Christ.
