Jack Bell

Jack Bell moved to Winchester in 1961 after he married local gal Beverly Rollins.  Jack graduated from Peabody in 1959 with a Master’s degree in Education Administration.  He was an avid softball player until age 65 and can often be seen digging up antique bottles or walking plowed fields hunting arrowheads. 

Jack served as a volunteer/full time fireman for the city of Winchester for 40+ years.  He then became Public Safety Director for the city and held that job for 12 years.  Jack was a founding member of the Crime Stoppers program and served on the E911 board for 15 years.  He and his family shot the annual Winchester fireworks display for 30+ years.
Jack attempted to retire after serving the city for so many years.  Retirement did not fit in Jack’s schedule.  He then became court security for the Franklin County Sheriff Department.  You could often see Jack at the court house or judicial center calling court to order.  He serves on the Franklin County Fair board and has for the past 6 years. He loves entering his ribbon winning tomatoes and green peppers.  His competitive spirit runs through every facet of his life.  

At 80 years old you will still see Jack digging bottles, hunting arrowheads, fishing, eating at Skips grill, gardening and helping others as needed.
