Gene
was elected to his first four year term as a Winchester City Councilman
in August of 2001. Since his election Gene served on the Downtown Merchants
and Professionals, Recreation, Public Safety and Tourism Committees for
the City d
uring
his first two years in office. Beginning in 2003 he was reassigned to
the Communication and Technology and Mayor's Youth Committees. Gene was then elected to the Vice-Mayor position by
his counterparts on the City Council in September of 2003 and served as Vice-Mayor until Septmeber of 2005.. Currently he serves on the Tourism Committee, Community Development Committee and the Public Safety Committee. Gene holds a BA in Political Science from The University of The South in Sewanee, Tennessee. While at Sewanee Gene was a four year starter on the football team serving as Team Captain his senior year. After graduation Gene worked for the University for 3 years as an assistant football, track and baseball coach and later as a development officer. Gene worked the next 12 years in various management positions in manufacturing mainly for Tier 1 automotive suppliers. Gene is married to the former Joy Stetson. Joy is the Kindergarten Teacher at The Good Shepherd School. They have two children, Stetson and Christian, both boys. They live in the Shadowbrooke subdivision. |
