Building and Codes Department is located at 113 First Avenue N. W., Winchester, Tennessee. Building and Codes Official/Inspector Pat Sanders(patsanders [at] winchester [dot] com) is responsible for the administration and supervision of the inspections and codes enforcement compliance programs adopted by the City of Winchester and is relative to the permitting construction, alteration and repair of buildings and enforcement of current zoning regulations. The City of Winchester adopted the Southern Building Codes in May 14, 1964. At the present time the City is working under the 2003 International Codes. Copies of these codes are kept in the office of the Building Inspector for public viewing. The Codes Official/Inspector has also been appointed Health Officer for the City of Winchester and along with the Public Works Director, is responsible for the health codes enforcement compliance programs of the (City Charter, title 17 Refuse and Trash Disposal, Section 17-123 Health Officer, Section 17-124, Violations) Work includes property (City Charter, Title 13 Property Maintenance and Ordinance 800 concerning abandoned or junk vehicles), building and health inspections activities, review of subdivision and other development plans and providing appropriate recommendations to the Winchester Municipal-Regional Planning Commission and Winchester Board of Zoning Appeals. This Official works directly under the supervision of the Winchester City Administrator.
Administrative Assistant to Code Enforcement - An administrative assistant is responsible for and provides a wide variety of administrative support services to the Planning Commission, City Codes Department. Through incoming calls and visitors to City offices this assistant must routinely deal with the public and attend to their needs and/or requests. Also this assistant will perform other routine office tasks such as typing, daily filing and scheduling and is also responsible for the orderly coordination of activities for the above stated departments/boards. This employee must effectively and efficiently maintain the skills to operate a variety of modern office equipment, including but not limited to, computer/word processor, typewriter, and calculator and copy machines.
