Horace
Davidson Brannan, son of William Hood and Lucy Campbell Brannan, was born
in Winchester on November 12, 1872. He was educated at the Winchester
Normal College, later studied law, and was admitted to the Winchester
bar. He was Mayor of Winchester from 1899-1903. In 1901 he gave up the
practice of law and established Elm Grove Farms in Belvidere. He gained
national recognition as a breeder and exhibitor of Shorthorn cattle. In
1901 he married Pearl Farris and they were the parents of one son. Horace
died at Smith Memorial Hospital on February 21,1949. He was buried in
Winchester City Cemetery. |
