John
Alvis Anderton, son of William Henry and Mary Elizabeth Byrom Anderton,
was born near Awalt on July 23, 1856. John married Sallie J. Webb in 1876
and they were the parents of three children. After her death in 1892,
he moved to Winchester and married Maude I. Brazelton in 1894. They were
the parents of two children. He was Mayor of Winchester from 1911-1913.
He then engaged in the live stock business and was associated with T.
E. Farris. He died at his home on North High Street on December 15, 1921
and was buried in Winchester City Cemetery. |
